The holiday season is full of parties and food temptation. If you have diabetes, you need to be careful how you eat throughout the holiday party season.
Follow these party tips and you can enjoy the holidays and stay healthy, too.
Plan ahead. Call before the party and ask what will be served. Think about what you want to eat and how it fits into your nutrition plan.
Eat something before you go. This way you wont be as tempted to overeat.
Keep your perspective. Dont be too hard on yourself if you dont meet your healthy eating goals. Simply adjust your eating habits at the next event.
Control portions. Instead of multiple helpings, try selecting one serving of a few items that are low in fat, sugar and salt.
Increase your exercise and burn more calories.
Healthy holiday eating will allow you to maintain your blood sugar and may let you avoid that New Years resolution to lose weight.
