Low back pain and headaches are the most common sources of pain. Diabetes and cancer are also responsible for chronic pain. Some kinds of chronic pain have numerous causes. Back pain can be caused by a single factor like an injury or it may be the result of a combination of factors such as:

 Years of poor posture

 Wearing high heels

 Sleeping on a poor mattress

 Cigarette smoking

 Stress

 Anxiety, and

In addition to low back pain and headaches, other well-known causes of chronic pain include arthritis, neck pain and muscular and skeletal abnormalities to name just a few.
