If youíre dieting but not losing weight, youíre not alone. Losing weight and maintaining a healthy weight are difficult. Dr. Ed Hill provides some tips for weight loss success in todayís 60 Second Housecall.

Reaching your weight-loss goals and obtaining and maintaining a healthy weight are not easy. Before you get started on a weight-loss program, consider the following tips to help you.

Set effective, and specific, goals. Most people trying to lose weight focus on just that one goal: weight loss. However, the most productive areas to focus on are the dietary and exercise changes that will lead to long-term weight control.

Reward success but not with food. An effective reward is something that is desirable, timely and contingent on meeting your goal. Treat yourself to a movie or music CD or take an afternoon off from work.

Avoid food triggers. Identify those social and environmental cues, such as while youíre watching TV or eating treats in the break room at the office, and work to change them.

Know when to say when. It takes 15 minutes or more for your brain to get the message youíve been fed. So slow down the rate that you eat food.
